Simon Pummell’s Shock Head Soul starts production

Pummell’s cross media feature Shock Head Soul (film, installation, web site and book) has started shooting in London and continues shooting in Holland in December. Pummell’s innovative combination of live action, documentary interviews, animation, and CGI explore the life of Daniel Paul Schreber, a successful lawyer and psychotic writer, who was confined to an asylum for nine years. Schreber’s Memoir of his psychotic illness was made famous by Freud’s
critical reading. The project was developed in collaboration with
psychoanalyst Helen Taylor-Robinson.

The film is supported by The Wellcome Trust, the Netherlands Film Fund
Rotterdam Media Fund and The Harvard Film Study Centre.

It is a Hot Property Film in co production with Submarine, Serious and Illumination Films.
